MONORAIL SAFARI TOUR

RELAX AND ENJOY THE WILDS

The Dallas Zoo Monorail Safari operates seasonally from March 1 to June 15 and the Friday before Labor Day to Dec. 1.

Facts about the Monorail Safari ...

  • Located in the Wilds of Africa.
  • 20-minute, one-mile, narrated tour.
  • Travels through six African habitats – forest, river, woodland, desert, mountain and bush – where animals roam freely.
  • Ride through the Ituri forest, home to the rare okapi.
  • Climb to the mountain habitat where you might observe the big horned Nubian ibex challenging each other by colliding head on – horn to horn.
  • Penetrate the jungle of the river habitat, go through a waterfall and observe many species of birds.
  • Get eye-to-eye with chimpanzees sitting in trees in the Kimberly-Clark Chimpanzee Forest as you pass by.
  • $2.50 per person for ages 3 and up; free for ages 2 and under.

GROUP INFORMATION

  • Groups of nine (9) or more must schedule the Monorail Safari tour at least two (2) weeks in advance through the Education Department at (214) 670-6832.
  • Minimum of one (1) adult, over 21 years of age, per seven (7) students is required.
  • Children ages two (2) and under are free and must ride in a chaperone’s lap.
  • Groups will pay for the Monorail Safari Tour at the monorail ticket booth. A separate check for Zoo admission fees will be required upon entry.
